Fall cleanup

Leaves start dropping in the Catawba Valley in October and keep coming into December, with oaks often hanging on the longest. A thick, wet layer of leaves left on fescue blocks light during the grass's most important growing season and can cause bare, matted patches by spring. That matters even more on lawns that were just aerated and overseeded, because new seedlings need sun.

A fall cleanup includes blowing and removing leaves from the lawn, beds, driveways, walks and patios, cutting back spent perennials, clearing annuals, and hauling away debris. Depending on the volume, we can mulch light leaf cover back into the lawn with the mower, which feeds the soil, or remove it completely. Many customers book two fall visits, one in early November and one after the last big drop.

Spring cleanup

Spring cleanups run from late February through April. We clear the leaves that blew in over winter, pick up fallen limbs and sticks, cut back ornamental grasses and perennials before new growth starts, prune winter damage off shrubs, and clean out and edge the beds. It is the natural time to add fresh mulch or pine straw, and it gets the lawn clean before the first mow of the year and the first pre-emergent application.

Spring is also a good time to look at the lawn itself. Matted areas where leaves sat all winter get raked out so the grass can breathe, and we note any thin or bare spots so they can be planned into fall seeding instead of patched with spring seed that will struggle in July.

Storm debris and overgrown areas

Summer thunderstorms and the occasional ice storm bring down limbs across the Catawba Valley. We clear yard-sized storm debris and haul it off. We also take on overgrown properties: a lot that has sat empty, a fence line that has been ignored for a few years, or a yard being cleaned up before a sale. Large tree removal and anything near power lines needs a tree service, and we will tell you if a job is outside what we do.

Cleanups for move-ins, move-outs and home sales

A yard is the first thing buyers and new tenants see. We do one-time cleanups for homeowners getting ready to list, for new owners taking over a yard that has been let go, and for landlords who need a rental yard reset between tenants. That usually means a full mow and edge, bed cleanout, fresh mulch or pine straw, trimming back overgrowth from walks and windows, and hauling off debris.

To be clear: Oasis is a lawn care company. We take care of yards for landlords and property owners, but we do not handle leasing, tenants or rent. If you are a landlord, we are happy to be the lawn crew for your rentals.

How cleanups are priced

Cleanups are priced per job, based on the size of the property, the volume of leaves or debris, and whether it is hauled away. Estimates are free. Customers on a regular mowing schedule can have lighter cleanup folded into their normal visits through the fall, which keeps things from piling up in the first place.
